Area III: Implement Health Education/Promotion
After all the assessments and planning of the health education program, it is finally time to implement the program. We must coordinate the execution of the program by mapping out the logistics for a successful launch. All materials need to be in place, all partners and resources need to be on board, and any supporting services must be easily attainable in case we need help or access to them at any point in the process. Appropriately training all staff or volunteers during the implementation process is important in order to have a smooth program kick-off. During implementation, we need to closely monitor this process to make sure we are on schedule, achieve objectives, and are consistent with our strategies used to deliver the plan. It is then we can use this information to modify or improve any weaknesses in the implementation of the program. Additionally, it is of utmost importance that we adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines during the implementation process.
As part of implementing certain activities within the NWFCCC, we develop or obtain materials for each event (3.1.2). I have created an updated brochure, an event flyer, and a one page summary for the collaborative. Currently, we are promoting Don’t Fry Day, and we are using the Skin Cancer Prevention’s website to access various materials and toolkits to incorporate in local activities throughout our counties. I have also gone through training specifically to learn how to maintain our brand new NWFCCC website (3.2). It will be my job to maintain, change, and update the content of our website. In order to receive this training, I had a Skype training session with one of the website developers who showed me how to use WordPress which is the platform used to maintain our website. We just recently went live with our website, and appropriate training needed to take place before the launch. We had no issues with our website reveal to all of our collaborative members and I have already made slight updates to the website with no problems at all.
